Mission

The Capital Preparatory Magnet School is a year round college preparatory school with a social justice theme. Throughout its curriculum, Capital Preparatory engages students in exploring issues of equality, democracy, economic opportunity, intellectual freedoms, environmental protection and human rights.

Students participate in a rigorous trimester Calendar that is enhanced by a six-week summer academy. High school students can enroll in college courses and receive both high school and college credit. Upon graduation, students receive a high school diploma and up to 60 college credits for their coursework.

For six years, 100% of graduating students have gone on to college. This is the first year the school has functioned independently of the Capital Community College. Enrollment is set at 700 students.
