Khan Academy for Middle School Students:
As part of our commitment to student achievement, students have been required to complete 15 minutes per day on the Khan Academy website (www.khanacademy.org). The “Khan Academy letter to parents” explains the requirements.
The following documents will help you to navigate the website:
Signing Up/Logging On:
“Creating an Account” teaches how to create an account and log on. This pdf includes screenshots throughout the entire process.
“Creating and Account (short version)” This also shows the steps to creating an account and logging on, but is not as detailed as the first version. (Can be used if you have a high level of confidence navigating websites.)
Both files also have the list of teacher e-mails that must be entered for the teachers to view the work being completed.
Choosing Skills to work on:
Logging on is only the first part. Help your students choose the skill that they need work on by referring to “choosing Khan Skills using report” pdf.
Becoming a Coach:
As a parent, you can watch and view what your students are working on by becoming their coach. The document “becoming a coach” will help you create your own log on name and allow you to view what your child is working on. This is the same level of access as a teacher.
